MFA Financial, Inc. is a U.S. real estate investment trust with two segments: Mortgage-Related Assets and Lima One. Mortgage-Related Assets invests in a diversified portfolio of residential loans, including nonqualified, business-purpose, legacy re-performing and non-performing loans, agency-eligible investor loans, and related mortgage-backed securities. Lima One operates a standalone mortgage origination and servicing business for real estate investors. The company also handles purchased credit deteriorated loans and mortgage servicing rights, financing activities via securitizations, warehouse facilities, and repurchase agreements. Incorporated in 1997, it is based in New York City.
