Canadian Apartment Properties Real Estate Investment Trust (CAPREIT) is Canada’s largest publicly traded provider of quality rental housing. As of December 31, 2025, CAPREIT owns about 45,500 residential apartment suites and townhomes, with roughly 400 held for sale, located mainly in Canada and, to a lesser extent, the Netherlands. The total fair value is about $14.7 billion (excluding about $0.1 billion of assets held for sale). It was established February 3, 1997 and incorporated in Ontario.
