Avista Corporation and its subsidiaries operate as an electric and natural gas utility in the United States, with two segments: Avista Utilities and Alaska Electric Light and Power Company (AEL&P). Avista Utilities provides electric and natural gas distribution and transmission in eastern Washington, northern Idaho, and parts of Oregon, plus generation and wholesale energy services. AEL&P serves Juneau, Alaska. It uses hydro, thermal, wind, and solar generation. As of December 31, 2025, it served about 429,000 electric customers, 386,000 natural gas customers, and 17,600 electric energy customers. It operates five hydro plants (102.7 MW) and four diesel plants (107.5 MW) and pursues venture and real estate investments. Formerly Washington Water Power, renamed Avista in 1999. Founded 1889; headquartered in Spokane, Washington.
