With more than 55 years in acquiring, improving, developing, and managing premier office, retail, and residential properties, it focuses on high-barrier markets in Southern and Northern California, Washington, Oregon, Texas, and Hawaii. Its office portfolio is about 4.3 million sq ft; retail about 2.4 million sq ft; plus one mixed-use property (94,000 sq ft retail and a 369-room hotel) and 2,302 multifamily units. The company formed in 2011 to take over the real estate business of American Assets, Inc., which was founded in 1967; American Assets Trust, Inc. was incorporated in Maryland in 1967.
