AGNC Investment Corp. provides private capital to the U.S. housing market. It invests in residential mortgage pass‑through securities and collateralized mortgage obligations guaranteed by a government agency or a government‑sponsored enterprise. As a real estate investment trust, it generally pays no federal income tax if it distributes at least 90% of taxable income to shareholders. Formerly American Capital Agency Corp., renamed in 2016; founded in 2008, based in Bethesda, Maryland.
