Vedanta Plans ₹210B Metals Expansion to Meet India Critical Minerals Demand
Vedanta plans to invest INR 210 billion into expanding aluminium, copper and other metals capacity through FY2026, targeting electric vehicles, batteries and charging infrastructure. The group secured 10 critical mineral blocks and is exploring five, while India imports over 80% of critical minerals. Vedanta recorded 2.45 million tonnes of aluminium in FY2025-26, and Hindustan Zinc reported zinc output plus its EcoZen low-carbon product.
