Odisha Expands Probe Into Vedanta’s Water Use and Drawal History

Odisha’s Water Resources department is seeking details of Vedanta Aluminium’s water sources and drawal history over allegations of unauthorised groundwater and river-water extraction. It has directed the Burla Irrigation Division to report water sources, charges, and the timeline for the Hirakud reservoir pipeline allocation and approvals. Odisha also issued a ₹233.11 crore demand notice for alleged extraction from the Bheden river system.
