Hindalco shares rise as Alunorte cuts alumina output by 50% due to gas shortage
Aluminium shares of NALCO, Hindalco Industries and Vedanta Aluminium Metal jumped after Norsk Hydro said its Alunorte alumina refinery in Brazil cut output to 50% of capacity because of a natural-gas shortage. Hindalco rose about 3.7% to INR 1,087.95. Alunorte in Pará (6.3 million tonnes/year capacity) plans to ramp up once gas availability normalises, tightening alumina supply and lifting prices.
