VW Chief Warns of More Than Critical Situation and Possible Job Cuts
Oliver Blume tells employees via intranet that Volkswagen and Germany’s car industry face the biggest upheaval in their history, driven by global headwinds and Chinese competition. The company is considering large job cuts and says no closure decision has been made, but several plants may be unprofitable in the 2030s. It is also tackling overproduction and discussing defence-industry use of the Osnabrück site as Lower Saxony reportedly refused approval of the plans.
