Mark Dankberg said Viasat’s Equatys Direct-to-Device joint venture, with Space42, is moving into its satellite procurement phase. Equatys pools 100+ MHz of harmonized L- and S-band MSS spectrum across 160+ markets and uses 3GPP Release 17/18 to support direct connectivity for unmodified 5G phones, IoT and automotive telematics, with Space42 allocating $600M capex for 2026–2027.
