HMM signed a USD 3.5 billion long-term maritime transport deal with Vale for eight newly built Newcastlemax bulk carriers. The ships will be delivered starting in 2030 and run on 25-year contracts, using triple-fuel propulsion with options including methanol, ethanol, LNG, and ammonia, plus wind-assist rotor sails to cut fuel use and carbon emissions. HMM said its fleet grew to 61 vessels.
