US Transportation Department warns Ford over China partnerships
The U.S. Department of Transportation sent a letter to Ford CEO Jim Farley warning about the company’s partnerships with Chinese firms amid Washington-Beijing tensions. It cited Ford’s ties with battery maker CATL and automakers Geely and BYD as posing national security concerns, saying Ford’s plan to shift Lincoln Nautilus production by 2030 would not end reliance on Chinese manufacturing. Ford shares fell 4.2% after the letter.
