Apple has sought Trump administration approval to buy memory chips from Chinese firms CXMT and YMTC, but the effort faces bipartisan resistance. YMTC is on the US Entity List and both companies have been designated by the Pentagon as tied to China’s military. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the administration does not support Apple sourcing those chips.
