Union Pacific said it has met the threshold requirements for its merger filing with Norfolk Southern and urged the US Surface Transportation Board to begin the full regulatory review. The company argued opponents’ challenges should be rejected, saying the STB has what it needs to assess the proposal and that the combination is in the public interest.
