Union Pacific said fuel surcharges added earnings of 14 cents per share in the second quarter, with STB filings showing surcharge revenue of $56.4 million more than fuel costs in combined first and second quarters. The carrier was the only major railroad whose surcharges exceeded fuel costs for the first half of 2026, despite long-running legal and regulatory scrutiny.
