UK Shifts Military Communications to SpaceX Starshield Service

Britain’s defence ministry said it has about 1,000 Starshield terminals and 500 Starlink terminals, using Starlink from mid-2022 and shifting more military communications traffic to Starshield. The ministry says Starshield uses the Starlink constellation and infrastructure but relies on dedicated terminals and separate gateways, with Starshield airtime starting in 2024 and first dedicated terminals bought last year. Starshield costs more than Starlink.
