Uber plans to run robotaxis in 28 cities globally by 2028, CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said on its Q2 2026 earnings call. The company will launch autonomous ride-hailing vehicles this year in the San Francisco Bay Area using Lucid cars, after Nuro began passenger testing with a CPUC permit. Uber also expects to start robotaxi rides in Los Angeles later this year, investing in Lucid and Rivian as autonomous fleets expand.
