Uber was fined €825 million ($966 million) in Europe by the Dutch Data Protection Authority for using automated systems to cancel driver accounts without proper alerts or enough human review. Uber said it strongly disagrees and will appeal, adding updated checks and driver appeal routes. Regulators also warn wider limits on automated worker decisions could raise compliance costs.
