Uber Exits Nigeria and Uganda, Cutting 3,300 Jobs and Pivoting to Robotaxis
Uber is withdrawing from Nigeria and Uganda and eliminating about 3,300 roles, roughly 10% of its workforce. The cuts are its largest since the COVID-19 pandemic, while the company shifts priorities toward autonomous mobility, planning to invest over $10 billion in robotaxis. Uber says the pullbacks won’t affect operations elsewhere in Sub-Saharan Africa.
