TSMC Revives Longtan 1.4nm Fabs and CoWoS Hub as Capacity Sells Out Globally
Longtan Phase 3 in Taoyuan, Taiwan, is set to host TSMC’s revived plan for two to three 1.4nm fabrication plants alongside two advanced packaging facilities, with both technologies planned to be built there simultaneously while global demand is sold out. The project still faces an ongoing Executive Yuan review, an environmental impact assessment, and land acquisition from mostly private owners until 2029 at the earliest. TSMC previously shelved the plan in 2023 after a local backlash over compulsory purchase.
