Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy wrote to Ford CEO Jim Farley questioning the automaker’s strategic trajectory with Chinese firms, including battery provider CATL. Ford has a licensing agreement to use CATL battery technologies, including lithium iron phosphate batteries, with plans to apply them to energy storage systems. The Trump administration said Ford’s choices could undermine American automotive integrity and supply-chain exposure, while Ford did not immediately comment.
