Tesla Unveils $10.1B Texas Solar Factory Plan to Scale US Solar Manufacturing
Tesla disclosed a $10.1 billion proposal for a solar factory in Fort Bend County, Texas, filed as a tax-incentive application for Project Crystal Sun. The project is expected to start commercial operations in Q1 2029 and create more than 9,700 full-time jobs. Tesla and SpaceX teams aim to ramp US solar manufacturing toward 100 GW per year, amid forecasts of US capacity growth and related hyperscaler-driven energy projects.
