Tesla Filings Flag Sanctioned African Gold Refiners as Possible Suppliers
An analysis of conflict-mineral and supply-chain disclosures flagged African Gold Refinery in Uganda and Gasabo Gold Refinery in Rwanda as possible sources in Tesla filings. The US previously sanctioned African Gold Refinery and businessman Alain Goetz, alleging links to illicit gold from areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo controlled by armed groups. The findings stress tracing difficulty and do not prove the gold entered any named company’s products.
