The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a probe into the process and technical data Tesla used when self-certifying Cybercab vehicles as compliant with federal safety standards. The vehicles used for road robotaxi service lack steering wheels or foot pedals, and launch details were limited. Tesla registered 45 Cybercabs in Texas ahead of the rollout, where its robotaxi fleet totaled 420, while shares fell sharply.
