Tata Steel Ludhiana Gets India’s First BIS License for Octagonal Billets

Tata Steel Ludhiana received a BIS license under IS 14650:2023 for producing octagonal billets, the first steel producer in India to get this certification. The approval recognizes its manufacturing processes and quality systems, and the billets are used to make Tata Tiscon TMT rebars. Octagonal billets improve material yield, rolling flow, cooling uniformity and dimensional accuracy while reducing rolling-mill wear.
