Tata Steel commissioned a coke oven gas injection project at Blast Furnace 1 of its Meramandali plant in Odisha. The system injects hydrogen- and hydrocarbon-rich process gas as a reductant, reducing fossil fuel use and associated CO₂ emissions while enabling a three-fuel blast furnace setup. The company targets net-zero emissions by 2045 and is evaluating further low-carbon technologies.
