Tarsus to Acquire Alkeus for $450M to Advance Stargardt Therapy
Tarsus Pharmaceuticals will pay $450 million to acquire Alkeus Pharmaceuticals, gaining rights to a phase 3 retinal disease therapy for Stargardt. The deal includes $270 million in cash and $180 million in Tarsus stock, plus up to $350 million in milestones if gildeuretinol reaches market after a 2029 study readout. Stargardt affects over 36,000 people in the U.S., and there are currently no FDA-approved therapies.
