Taiwan’s government is setting up an industry consortium that brings together TSMC and about 30 other companies to secure leadership in silicon photonics, a next-generation data transmission technology. The plan, unveiled by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, aims to strengthen Taiwan’s optical semiconductor supply chain for AI-driven demand and links to commercialization of TSMC’s CoPoS in 2H 2028.
