The Supreme Court directed cybersecurity researcher Himanshu Pathak to appear before the XI Metropolitan Magistrate in Chennai and furnish bail bonds in Star Health and Allied Insurance Company’s criminal case against him. The order followed Pathak’s challenge to a Madras High Court ruling not to stop the proceedings, with Star Health alleging he failed to follow the earlier trial-court direction and citing alleged vulnerability extortion. Star Health said it hired an independent cybersecurity expert and the court earlier explored settlement.
