States Sue to Block Warner Bros-Paramount $110B Antitrust Merger
A proposed Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount merger would combine major film distributors and cable and streaming platforms, with projected shares near 27% of wide-release theatrical distribution and about 30% of top-grossing blockbusters. While clearance has been granted by 68 jurisdictions, 12 states led by California filed a federal Clayton Act lawsuit to block it, arguing the deal could raise prices, increase fees, and reduce content diversity.
