SSE Airtricity plans to raise its electricity unit rate by 9.4% and gas by 11.6% from October 5, with an average gas bill up by about 9.3% or nearly €139 a year for variable-rate customers. The changes will affect almost 300,000 households, alongside higher electricity grid management and upkeep fees, as wholesale gas prices nearly double year-on-year.
