A July 28 earthquake prompted Sony Semiconductor Manufacturing to halt operations at its Kumamoto Technology Center in Kikuyo-machi, Kumamoto Prefecture. Safety inspections of buildings and facilities were completed, and recovery work enabled a staged restart. No employee casualties were reported. Other regional technology centers in Nagasaki, Oita, Kunisaki, and Kagoshima reported no significant damage.
