Sony Music Sues Kroger Over Alleged Copyright Infringement in Social Media Ads
Sony Music says it found at least 392 unauthorized uses of its recordings on Kroger social media accounts and on influencer accounts promoting Kroger brands. The filing alleges Kroger’s parties acted knowingly and willfully by continuing social-media advertising while refusing to pay for the sound recordings, despite licenses that cover online use. The suit names 19 Kroger entities, including major banners such as Mariano’s and Ralphs.
