Silver Lake-Backed Altera IPO Could Raise Over $2 Billion
Barclays, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, and Silver Lake declined to comment on plans for Silver Lake-backed Altera to prepare an IPO that could raise more than $2 billion as early as 2026, one of the largest semiconductor IPOs since Arm. Intel bought Altera in 2015 and later sold a 51% stake to Silver Lake, after which Altera became fully standalone. The U.S. also agreed to buy a 9.9% stake in Intel for $8.9 billion.
