GE Vernova’s Advanced Research Center is leading a DOE ARPA-E funded effort to use AI to optimize spent nuclear fuel tracking and measurement at recycling facilities. SHINE is joining the collaboration, aiming to build modern safeguards and accountability into recycling from day one. The MAYER work supports a commercial facility designed for a lower-security NRC category, reducing physical security burdens and costs while improving operational efficiency.
