Shell has released the jack-up rig it contracted to drill wells for its Aphrodite offshore gas project in Trinidad, saying it has released the initial rig slot and will keep evaluating the project schedule. The pause is a setback for Trinidad’s efforts to raise declining gas output and LNG and petrochemical activity, though cross-border licenses with Venezuela remain in place.
