SCC orders Dominion to shift transmission costs for data centers

Virginia’s SCC ordered Dominion to draft a policy requiring data centers and other large-load customers to pay for transmission lines and power infrastructure built specifically to connect their facilities. Dominion has 90 days to file the policy covering direct-connect substations and lines, with the new surcharge starting Sept. 1. The SCC lowered the projected residential increase to 94 cents a month.
