Saudi Power Procurement Company awarded battery storage build-own-operate contracts to ACWA Power and an Engie consortium in a Saudi tender, signing on 20 August. The first BOO agreements use 15-year service agreements with equity retained in special purpose vehicles, with total value above SAR4.35 billion. The company has operated BESS projects for over 20 years, adding 4.7GW globally.
