Sapporo to shift some Canadian beer production to the US after 50% tariff

Sapporo says it will move some non-alcoholic beer production for US customers from Canada to the US after new 50% tariffs on Canadian beer took effect. The change, aimed at offsetting sharply higher import costs, will reshape operations at its Canadian subsidiary, Sleeman Breweries, with production in the US planned by the first half of 2027. Sapporo also plans up to ¥400bn in investment by 2030 to expand overseas.
