Santander completes Webster acquisition to expand U.S. banking footprint
Santander has completed its acquisition of Webster, combining complementary businesses to expand its retail and commercial banking presence in the U.S. The deal grows the customer base to nearly eight million and supports a goal of about 18% return on tangible equity by 2028. Most day-to-day services for Santander and Webster customers remain unchanged, with expanded, fee-free ATM access and broader branches and digital offerings over time.
