Samsung SDI acquired GM’s 49.99% stake in their SynergyCells joint venture, giving sole ownership of the first North American facility in New Carlisle, Indiana, where construction is underway. The plant will initially make batteries for US energy storage systems, while a joint development agreement targets next-generation prismatic cells that could also be produced at the site. Separately, GM extended its SAIC Motor JV to 2047.
