Samsung Loses Swatch Lawsuit and Must Pay $11.6 Million
Swatch sued Samsung for allowing trademarked watch designs to be used in third-party apps on its app store. The apps, offering imitating watch faces for free or for a fee, were downloaded about 160,000 times in the UK and EU. Swatch had sought around $170 million, and a London court ordered Samsung to pay $11.6 million, while Samsung says it removed the apps once aware.
