Safran and Rolls-Royce compete for India’s next fighter engine
India’s bid to co-develop a fifth-generation fighter engine has sparked competition between Rolls-Royce and France’s Safran. Safran proposes a high-thrust engine for the AMCA jet with the state-run Gas Turbine Research Establishment, with its offer reviewed by India’s Cabinet Committee on Security. Safran, including via a Reliance Industries partnership, also explores building an aerospace gas-turbine industrial base in India.
