Broken engine parts shattered a window on a Ryanair plane in July, causing a passenger to be partly sucked out mid-flight. An NTSB preliminary report says an engine fan blade broke off shortly after takeoff on a 10 July Greece-to-Germany flight operated by Malta Air, damaging the fuselage. Four prior bird strikes were reported. FAA directives for Boeing 737 engine-cover strengthening hadn’t yet been completed on the Ryanair aircraft.
