RWE Proposes Wind Project on Cortland County Leased Land
RWE completed a wind project in Steuben County with 59 turbines on about 25,000 acres of leased land and is seeking similar development in Cortland County, where it has 4,500 acres leased. Land leases would run seven years with a two-year option, and the project could take about seven years. RWE selected Texas-based Land Access to secure leases on a commission basis, but has not shared turbine height or capacity, while some legislators raised concerns about development near Greek Peak and the use of land-approach efforts.
