Roche Cobas Mass Spec gets first US customer as CLIA clearances expand
Roche’s Cobas Mass Spec is a fully automated sample-to-answer system designed to run like a routine clinical analyzer, reducing the expert personnel typically needed for mass spectrometry testing. After launching in Europe in late 2024, Roche placed a system with its first US customer, Laboratory Corporation of America, and aims for 100 installed instruments. In the US it has CLIA categorization for six steroid tests and a Vitamin D assay, with more clearances expected through 2027.
