Rheinmetall Nioa Munitions Wins $72m Deal to Forge 155mm M795 Shells
The government has signed a $72 million deal with Rheinmetall Nioa Munitions to set up new forging capability for 155mm M795 projectiles at its Maryborough, Queensland plant, replacing a prior Thales arrangement for Benalla, Victoria. The forged capability is to be in place by end-2028, supporting sovereign shell supply for the ADF and export opportunities. The deal also notes $9.2 million for modernising Thales’ existing line.
