Qantas posts $1.5B+ profit, fuel costs hit A$420m and expansion continues

Qantas reported profit of more than $1.5 billion, but the Middle East conflict and jet-fuel price pressure cost it A$420m in the financial year, with the annual fuel bill said to be A$610m higher than expected. The airline is rolling out a new business-class suite for its A321XLR fleet, received 17 aircraft and expects up to 31 more, tested Project Sunrise from France, and will phase out A380s from 2028 after closing Jetstar Asia and redeploying seven planes.
