A cooperation memorandum outlines a roadmap toward Europe’s first commercial fusion power plant, starting with the Alpha demonstration stellarator near IPP in Garching. Alpha is planned to become operational in the 2030s at about €2 billion. The Stellaris demonstration plant is set for Bavaria at RWE’s former Gundremmingen site, where decommissioning is underway, with partners working on siting, permitting, project structure and financing.
