PhonePe and Visa launch Tap to Pay, Cross-Border QR and Smart Accept

PhonePe and Visa unveiled three cardless payment tools at Global Fintech Fest 2026. Building on Visa Device Tokenization launched with PhonePe in February 2025, Tap to Pay lets Android users tokenise Visa cards for contactless POS payments and work in low-connectivity areas. Cross Border Scan to Pay uses Visa-supported QR codes across 14 overseas markets, while Smart Accept targets micro-merchants. Rollout begins in phases on 9 September.
